What are the requirements for a watchman authorization?

The requirements for becoming unarmed and braced wards differ. A resident who wants to become an unarmed watchman should:

  • Firstly, be at least 18 years old at the moment of application.
  • Secondly, he/she should not be charged with any crime.
  • Thirdly, completing some tests is mandatory.

The requirements for an authorized safety agent are as follows:

  • An applicant should be at least 18 years old.
  • Possession of a yellow card is necessary.
  • He/she must attend 40-hour firearm coursework with a certified coach.

Application Process for a Delaware Security License

Before completing the necessary documents, an applicant should engage in training. The Technical and Community College handles the program. After the successful completion of the program, candidates pass on to the testing stage. The passing score is 75%.

The next step is the appointment at the State Bureau of Identification. Here the bureau specialists will take your fingerprints and photos. Candidates should have 4 required items with them.

  • Photo ID
  • Training Certificate
  • Test/Exam Certificate provided by DTCC
  • $85 payment

If the board approves your application, you receive the ID via mail. They will send it to the address given in your document.

How long does it take to receive a permit?

At least a two-week period is necessary for reviewing and approving the request. Yet, it might differ based on personal factors.

How to get a red card for armed guards?

Note that before registering for fortified safety officer allowance, you should have a yellow one. Besides, professionals attend a 40-day training program with a certified instructor. Once they have proof of passing the course, they can apply for it. Candidates should appear at the SBI location at the same time. There is an $85 fee.

Those who miss the appointment day and apply for another date will be charged an extra $30 fee.

Delaware Security License Renewal

The permission is valid for a year. Thus, it is recommended to apply for the renewal 2 months before it expires.

Replacement of lost or stolen permits

Valid document holders may come to any of the SBI locations. They have to complete a request form to replace their lost/stolen ones. The cost of the replacement is $10.00.
